Bayerngas Norge AS farms into exploration acreage
Bayerngas Norge AS has entered into an agreement with ConocoPhillips to acquire 10% in Production License (PL) 331 and 30% in PL 404 located in the southern part of the Norwegian North Sea.
PL 331 was awarded in December 2004 and expires in December 2011. Co-venturers after the farm in will be ConocoPhillips (operator 30%), Statoil (40%), Petoro (20%) and Bayerngas (10%). A well is planned on the Megalodon prospect in 2Q 2009. PL 404 was awarded in 2007 and expires in 2014. Co-venturers after the farm in will be ConocoPhillips (operator 70%) and Bayerngas Norge AS (30%). The acquisition represents a high risk/high reward opportunity acreage close to markets and is in line with Bayerngas Norge AS’ strategy to increase the reserve basis both through acquisitions and through organic growth, says Arne Westeng, the managing director of Bayerngas Norge AS. Appraisal well Ravn – 3 in the Danish North Sea confirmed oil
Bayerngas Norge AS, through its wholly owned Bayerngas Petroleum Danmark as, is a partner in License 5/06 in Denmark. As operator for the companies in this license Wintershall Nordzee B.V. has drilled the Ravn-3 (5504/5-2) appraisal well in the westernmost part of the Danish part of the North Sea.
