About the Bayerngas Norge Group
A brief historyBayerngas Norge was established in 2006 in order to be a new business for the exploitation of natural gas and oil opportunities across the North Sea and the Norwegian Sea with primary focus on gas. The owners of Bayerngas Norge, regional gas suppliers and municipal utility companies, saw the business opportunity in integrating upstream activities with parent companies’ downstream activities and reduce reliance on Russian gas. The shareholders of Bayerngas Norge aim to achieve independence and self sufficiency in the natural gas supply business and cover as much natural gas as possible from their own sources. The shareholders have financial capability to secure fast development of new fields from exploration to production. After the acquisition of 25 percent of the Vega South field from Revus in 2006, Bayerngas Norge has seen a rapid development through strategic acquisitions. Bayerngas Norge has acquired the Petro-Canada portfolio in Denmark in 2008, PA Resources AS early 2009, Genesis Petroleum in 2009, Saga Petroleum Denmark in 2009, in addition to strategically important acreage on the Norwegian and Danish continental shelf. Bayerngas Norge has been active and successful in license awards. In June 2009 Bayerngas Norge was prequalified as Operator on the Norwegian continental shelf, a very important milestone for the company, employees, management and shareholders. Through acquisitions, Bayerngas Norge has grown from 12 employees in 2007 to around 60 highly competent and experienced employees in 2010. Bayerngas Norge has made a large effort in building a responsible, ambitious, open and creative corporate culture, well positioned to take full advantage of strategic opportunities in the future. Bayerngas Norge today Bayerngas Norge is an independent and value driven company with activities in Norway, Denmark and the UK. At the end of 2009 the company had 38 licenses, including 7 in Denmark and 2 in the UK. Bayerngas Norge is a partner in one producing field and three fields under development. The company was awarded 6 licenses in the APA 2009 concession round, and will compete for license shares in the 21st concession round and in the APA 2010. Bayerngas Norge will, in the coming year, focus on strong organic growth and development of existing business, including an extensive exploration program. In November 2009, Bayerngas Norge Norge moved into new and modern offices in Lilleakerveien 8, Lysaker in Oslo. The facilities are well suited for the new and larger organization, and they have room for further growth. |
